The new 2012 BMW 3 Series F30 has technical problems! Massive recall in USA

Additionally, BMW has announced a “stop-sale” order for the new 3-Series.

According to the NHTSA, 3-Series models produced between October 19, 2011 and March 18, 2012 don’t comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 202A, “Head Restraints.”

Said in plain English, the 3-Series’ front headrests exceed the acceptable downward movement limit of 25mm.

The NHTSA says the non-compliant headrests could move down slightly in the event of a crash, increasing the likelihood of personal injury. However, no injuries have been linked to the recall.

BMW will fix the problem by attaching a clamp to the front seat headrest posts. The automaker will also perform the fix on unsold cars, explaining the temporary stop-sale order.

A total of 7,600 BMW 3-Series vehicles are covered by the recall.
