On September 10th, the smallest in the Hyundai model range celebrates its grand entrance at the Frankfurt Motor Show. 


 Although the new i10 comes from a Korean manufacturer, it was designed in the European Development Center, just like the predecessor generation introduced in 2008, and is also being built in Europe. The microcar comes to the customers with a completely new design.




Thanks to the lowered roof line (by two centimeters) and the wider body (also two centimeters), the i10 looks now not least because of the newly designed front much more confident than its predecessor. 


Upon request, customers can order newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels, which further enhance the sporty appearance of the mini-car. The new design reduced the coefficient of drag from 0.32 to 0.31, which should have a positive effect on the background noise.


In addition, the 3.7-meter-long i10 comes to customers with a whole range of connectivity solutions. In addition to the eight-inch largest touch-sensitive screen in the A-segment, this includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 


Together with the optional navigation package, the Bluelink telematics system is on board, with which numerous services can be controlled via an app. For example, it can be used to feed destinations via the smartphone into the navigation system or to search for parking spaces and gas stations, including current prices.




The i10 also includes the Smart Sense Security Package, which includes a Front Collision Warning, Highbeam Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Attention Warning. Finally, intelligent traffic sign recognition draws the driver's attention to speed limits and overtaking bans.

Hyundai offers two engine versions for the i10: the single-liter three-cylinder engine delivers 49 kW (67 hp) and achieves a maximum torque of 96 Newton-meters (Nm). 




The 1.2-liter four-cylinder comes to 64 kW (84 hp) and a maximum torque of 118 Nm. The two drives are connected to a manual five-speed gearbox. 


As an option, there is an automated five-speed manual transmission in the price list for both drives. The engine gearbox combinations meet the extended emission standard Euro 6d-Temp-Evap-ISC.
