Kyron Transition

Launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, the new Ssangyong Kyron was also present at the Bucharest International Motor Show. About this car we have to tell you that the Kyron is a SAV or Sport Activity Vehicle. That means that this SUV was conceived to perform better on the road than on the gravel. The truth was that this Kyron is not regular SUV that compete with other SUVs like Toyota RAV4 or the land Rover Freelander.

This car is capable of going where no other SUV could do because it has the gene of on veritable off-road vehice. Even tough this new Kyron has another strange design line the off-road capabilities are very surprising for the segment.

Under the hood we find only one engine a diesel made under license buy Daimler-Chrysler. It has a two liter capacity and the maximum power that can be delivered is 140 hp. These power is not surprising for a two tone vehicle but the torhe of the engine reaches over 300 Nm at 2.000 rpm. That means that the car could do nice evnen on the road. The Mercedes power plant is robust and fuel efficient and could make almost anyone forget big petrol engines. It delivers its punch at the right time and could do with 80 liters of diesel fuel almost 800 km.

Another unique feature found at this Ssangyong is the transmission. The car could be delivered with a Ssangyong manual gearbox with 5 gears and a good fuel economy or with an automatic gearbox made also under license by Mercedes. These last one has also five gears and makes the riding in this vehicle very comfortable.

After all this car has a questionable look but it drives on road and especially off-road like a tank. If you don’t have a problem with the strange looks than this is the car for you. An by the way is even cheaper than a RAV4 or a Freelander.
